What are the different types of AC

As per the recent surveys, our country spends a major part of their expense on air conditioners. This should give you a rough idea of how important cool air for all of us is! Whether it is 1.5 ton inverter ac or central AC your house is in need of it.

However, if you want to change your air conditioner, it can be an overwhelming situation.

The air conditioner is a large part of your investment for your home and pocket; therefore you definitely want to get your money's payback in the efficiency of the machine you purchase. Coming down to making the decision of which AC to buy can be tough, though! You need to keep in mind, AC unit size, advanced features, home requirements, quality, and upfront cost. In this blog we will talk about the various types of ACs and their salient features which will help you make a decision.

Types of AC Units

We can safely say that there are different types of air conditioners that are broadly classified and variedly designed depending upon different space/reason. The six types of AC units are:

  • Basic central AC
  • Ductless AC
  • Window unit

Let's talk about the basic central air conditioner that functions by combining the evaporator, condenser, and compressor all in a single unit which is placed on either a roof or a concrete slab near the foundation. Then from this unit, duct draws air from your home while running through the exterior wall or roof. This kind of air conditioner when combined with a set of heating coils or a natural gas furnace inside the building can work quite as efficiently.

Ductless, Mini-Split Air Conditioners are second in this row. It's mostly common in houses that do not have ductwork. The ductless AC or mini-split systems are a combination of an outdoor compressor and condenser with one or more indoor air-handling units. These units are well mounted on the wall with attached blowers. The tubing adjoins the indoor and outdoor units of the AC and circulates the refrigerant between them.

Every room in your house is equipped with a separate unit that cools that room, which is very much like a window unit. They do not need you to tear up the walls and you can also operate and regulate the temperature independently for every room. These units can be more energy efficient, but they are more expensive for an upfront cost as it will consume more power when being installed for an entire house. In this case you can go for 1 ton energy saving split AC.

Window Units

Window units are most common and popular types of AC units for single rooms. All of the elements are boxed in a single box with a single thermostat gauge. It is fitted in a compartment made in the wall or windows where the unit sits.
